I am facing the same issue with my MBP. It seems that Growl is the only
run-away process for me as well. Sometimes it crashes on its own (when I
hover over the growl icon in the menubar), and sometimes I have to manually
choose to quit it. It was happening in both Growl 1.3 and now with Growl
1.4.

I run a MBP with OS X 10.7.4
