I having the same problem as many other posts. OS X.7.4 and Growl v1.4. (english). In Growl Preferences, I have the toggle switch to"Start Growl at Login" to "ON". I have toggled this a few times On/Off and logged out and back in. I have two other machines, same OS running Growl v1.3.3. which opens on both machines without fail at Login. Only way to run Growl v1.4 currently is to manually start it up each session - if I remember.
