There have been some reports of this, generally its an issue with either the preferences file (in ~/Library/Preferences/ com.growl.GrowlHelperApp.plist), or the ticket file itself. Try moving aside the preferences file and its lockfile, and deleting the tickets from Growl (you can press delete with transmission/sparrow selected), and letting them reregister.
