After I installed Mountain Lion on my lovely little mac, I noticed that
Growl had (for some time, perhaps?) been needing an update. But when I
tried to download an update from the store, it said "To update this
application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." I did have
some confusion with multiple apple IDs at one point- but, no, I got the
same refusal regardless of which apple ID I used.

So I figured, "For $1.99, I'll just uninstall my old Growl and buy it anew,
my time is worth way more than that." So I uninstalled my ~1.1.4 version
of Growl, using the uninstaller from the Growl website, and manually
cleaning up all the leftover things in preferences and application support.
No Growl left on my computer!

Back to the Apple Store, with the intent to buy it anew... and nope, it
only offers me an "Update" button, and when I click it, I get that "To
update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it"
error.

Any suggestions for how to work around this? I'm going to ask on
discussion forums for the Mac App Store too, but I wanted to try both
venues in case there was something Growl-specific.

Thanks!
