To be more to the point, no, running Growl 1.2.x and Growl 1.3 or above at the same time (or really any two different versions) of Growl is not recommended. There are certain resources both want to have their hands on, and other issues that may arise from it. There are ways you could conceivably get notifications from a 1.2 box to a 2.0 box, depending on how the notes are generated. If they come from scripts using older bindings straight to the other computer, and not through growl, you can simply update those scripts to use one of the many GNTP library implementations for a variety of languages. If they come from apps using our framework into growl, a plugin could be made to forward via GNTP to computers using Growl 1.3 or newer. We won't likely be creating an official GNTP plugin for 1.2.x or older simply due to time, all of our limited resources are presently working to add new features to Growl.app, and fix various issues caused by the big rewrites 2.0 had. However, GNTP is an open spec, as is our code base for both older and newer stuff, if you are a person with such an inclination and the requisite skills, it would be doable, and of course we would be willing to discuss it with you if you had questions on it.
