I did as you suggested. I found and installed the Growl Version Detective 1.2.2 (2). It listed a 1.2.2 version under the computer icon so I trashed it but not before I selected to "Upgrade FW" as many apps as would let me in the Framework tab. I hope this was all the correct thing to do.
I also have the "Hardware Growler". Other than use up space, is there any real advantage to have this? Does it check for new drivers and/or firmware for all my hardware, peripherals and other devices? FYI: I no longer have a Growl icon in my system preferences panel.
