What kind of sample would you like? I had a quick look at the console and there 
is nothing unusual there. Does Growl create it’s own  log file, if yes, where?

Since the 2.1.1 (I did not instal 2.1) update, growl will keep growing over a 
fairly short time from approximately  22 meg at startup to over 3 gig. This 
machine is always on and will receive at least two notifications an hour from 
TimeMachine Growler. Other well used applications are Dropbox, NCIDpop (uses 
Prowl style), Alfred and several applescripts. I believe of the 200 
notifications 180 of them were TimeMachine so 180/2, it took approximately  90 
hours to reach 3 gig (ok, so it is not that short of time, still seems like a 
large amount of memory :-)
