I've noticed that notifications to display randomly. In the case of hardwaregrowler, it will fall back to using Notification Center. For applications with growl support, the notifications never show. For a few shell scripts that i have that use growlnotify or the GNTP perl module, i will get an error in terminal. When i check the logs i see the following entry that corresponds to each failed notification:
