When trying to get user attention due to growl needing to be restarted
WindowServer uses all available CPU.

   Growl: 2.1.3.
   OSX: 10.10.4

Growl having died the icon was displayed in the menu bar with
oscillating intensity to get user attention.
During the two days it took me to realize what was slowing the machine
down it needlessly slowed up the
machine as well as providing a visual indication. The slowdown is
presumably unintentional and is significant.

Preferably the icon should sleep between changes of intensity or between
cycles of changed intensity or
use other measures that do not impede overall performance.

I can't confirm if the code providing the feature is in Growl or
WindowServer but wanted to make you aware
of the issue. It may be that this is a WindowServer feature that you are
using rather than your direct implementation.

   All the Best,

   Owen.
