gRFC L67 proposes a C++ callback API: https://github.com/grpc/proposal/pull/180
This callback API has already been in use internally at Google for more than 2 years and greatly eases the use of asynchronous RPCs in gRPC C++. Please check it out if you are interested in gRPC C++.
