XML is widely used only because it is a standard, so many utilities are provided. XML is bloated, ugly, and space-inefficient. It would be interesting to think why CSS2 is not based on XML, even though nearly all technologies related to WWW are based on XML nowadays. The designer of CSS2 must be a sane person.
