Hi all, I am using grub 1.96+20080512-1ubuntu2 Grub2 is filling in wrong information.
Grub2 menu uses (hd1,1) in grub.cfg (this is done by grub automatically) while when I use menu.lst which I build by hand things happen rightly. Due to using (hd1,1) if I go to grub2 menu and click on any of the kernels I get grub error 15. This is the content of device map [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /boot/grub/device.map (fd0) /dev/fd0 (hd1) /dev/sda (hd0) /dev/sdb Adding both /boot/grub/grub.cfg as well as /boot/grub/menu.lst so one knows the difference and can fix the stuff. Please lemme know if you need any other information as well. I have put up the bug at launchpad as well https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/267996 but haven't heard anything from them as yet. Looking forward to hearing from you.
