Unfortunately there are availability problems with libzfs.h and libnvpair.h. On FreeBSD they're not installed system-wide. On OpenSolaris I can't see them installed either (although in this one I'm probably missing something). I'm all for switching to system-wide headers, and I completely agree with the benefits. If the problem is FreeBSD-specific, I'll report it to FreeBSD developers and switch as soon as it is feasible.
