Forgot to mention that also tried on 2.0 to configure with "--target=mipsel --with-platform=loongson" prior to the make steps, and that didn't help. I went back to the "guesses" by configure, cause the alternative besides not helping further was generating unusual (at least to me) /etc/grub.d files, :-).
