Dear grub-devel,

As you are all aware, after many years of great work, Daniel Kiper has
stepped
down as the main GRUB maintainer.

With his prior approval, as well as that of the other maintainers, Vladimir
and
Alex, GRUB is moving to freedesktop, where it will benefit from modern
development tools like MRs and CI for every merge request, as well as clear
patch tracking.

You can find the repo at: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gnu-grub/grub/ and
the
new main website at: https://gnu-grub.freedesktop.org/ (still a WIP). We
will
update the gnu website, etc., in the coming days.

Leo will be taking over Daniel's technical duties, and Marta will help with
organization, communication, etc. Both of us have added our PGP keys to the
SECURITY file, and are therefore available as security contacts in case a
potential vulnerability is found.

We plan to work closely with GRUB maintainers from other distros as well as
all unaffiliated GRUB enthusiasts. Please reach out with questions, issues,
thoughts, and ideas. :)

Effective immediately, you can open MRs on gitlab instead of sending patches
here. We will continue to monitor this list for about a month, but encourage
all GRUB contributors to use the new workflow instead.

In order to contribute, you will need to have a gitlab account, and you will
additionally need to have your account verified, as described here:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freedesktop/freedesktop/-/wikis/home This is
a
minor inconvenience, but you should get verified quickly.

We will automatically create MRs from patch sets that were already sent to
this
mailing list. If you don't wish to have your prior unmerged contribution
automatically converted, please reply with "I am opting out of automated
patch
processing."

Thank you for your contributions to GRUB so far, and please join us on this
exciting next step!

Leo Sandoval
