Due to the very frequent updates we make to GSAS-II (both to fix bugs and to
address enhancement requests) we don’t have a traditional development cycle
with periodic software releases — for this reason we want people to install
GSAS-II from our subversion server. This allows for frequent updates.

We do use conda-constructor to build a distribution kit (see
https://subversion.xray.aps.anl.gov/trac/pyGSAS/browser/install for files to
build the placeholder g2pkg package and the g2conda miniconda-with-extras). I
suppose this could be converted to a conda recipe that would allow GSAS-II to
be installed from inside conda. My experience is that most GSAS-II users are
not that interested in learning about learning to use anaconda and Python and
want something simple to use. I am interested in hearing who would want a conda
recipe and why.

I’d be happy to have it available if someone wants to adapt what I have
(provided that the recipe downloads the svn conda package and installs GSAS-II
via subversion with the supplied bootstrap.py file.)
