You just need to work more on your ManGrip(TM).
Enough errm... "practice" and you should be able to tear the filter
right off by hand.
It's funny though, I bought a special tool to get them off (one that
actually works after trying so many different types) but come oil change
time I can never find it and end up having to stick the screwdriver
through it in frustration!
