Yes, GRASS is able to display my site list data during my session.
After that is start gstat -i from the GRASS prompt and if I enter only
the name of the file gstat complains not to find it, and if I enter the
full path name to it I have problem entering the column numbers.
Whatever I tried, gstat is shutdown after the question concering dupicate
observations. It seems to send a warning message, but it is to rapid to
be read.

Here is the begin of the site list data I tried to use:

0.899|8.835|#1 %41
1.162|10.04|#2 %33
0.337|10.947|#3 %36
0.562|11.777|#4 %41
1.352|12.667|#5 %37
0.436|12.675|#6 %37
1.784|13.31|#7 %30
1.503|13.967|#8 %28
0.631|14.472|#9 %28.5
1.741|14.481|#10 %28.5
1.236|15.082|#11 %27
0.782|15.341|#12 %27.5
1.594|15.583|#13 %26.5
1.123|15.928|#14 %26.5
1.084|17|#15 %27
1.819|16.624|#16 %25.5
1.944|17.254|#17 %25
0.186|16.835|#18 %27
1.266|18.067|#19 %25
0.13|17.898|#20 %26

(it comes from a 3 columns ascii files that I imported to GRASS as a site
list).

P.S. I also checked the the environment variables LOCATION, GISDBASE and
MAPSET were correctly set during my GRASS session.
