What's the benefits of nsf-middleware?

There seem to be some stale links on that page.  The last NMI release,
9.0, can be downloaded from <ftp://ftp.nsf-middleware.org/pub/nmi/9.0/>.

Note that at least one of the components, gx-map
(included in the "tools" subdirectory) is out of date.
