Hi, Rachana,

Thank you for your reply! I started use Globus
just a few weeks ago and I am not very familiar with Globus and its componenets, so I cannot accurately tell you what I want. But I will try. What I mean is, if I wanna submit a job to a cluster equiped with Globus, commonly, at first I have to get a user cert and key, then I have to use command "grid-proxy-init" to create a proxy, right? But If I wanna submit a MPICH-G2 multi-request job to more than one cluster, I  have to get the user certs and proxies of all these clusters, and if a new user were added to the system, the whole getting  user certs and proxies thing should be done all over again, which is repeated and boring. So is there an easier way to do this?

Hi,

When you say not use GSI, you mean not have proxies and X509 Credentials?
Recently we have started discussion about potentially leveraging SSH
infrastructure in the GT. Today GridFTP has support for this, but we are
looking at extending it to WS services also. The effort is in preliminary
stages and we would be interested to hear use cases and requirements from
your group.

Thanks,
Rachana

Subject: [gt-user] Can I use Globus without GSI?

Hi,

Our lab has several clusters, so we wanna make them a grid by Globus and
then run MPICH-G2 jobs on it. But since they all belong to us and are
gonna be used by members of our lab only, there are not much security
problems, hence GSI is not that necessary to us. Now I don't know
whether or not I can use Globus without GSI and I cannot find any
information about this issue. So does anyone have experience with it or
know where I can get some help?
