% globus-url-copy gsiftp://choate.mcs.anl.gov/etc/group
file:///tmp/bacon.test.copy

this command wont produce any output at terminal. but u can see the
transfered file in the second machine.

*globus-gridftp-server -s

*while starting gridftpserver i think u should specify port no. port no. is
2811 i suppose
and also try to disable your firewall
