RFT is a service that manages other transfer services. It does not actually do any of the transferring itself. Therefor it requires that a transfer service (gridftp) to be running on both the source and destination endpoints of all transfers. You do not have to have a full blown globus install on all endpoints, but you must have gridftp servers running.

I hope that addresses your concern, but I am not entirely clear on your expectations. Let me know what else i can tell you.

Hi,

I'd like to use RFT to copy files between machines that don't have globus installed (but do have the CoG jars) and machines that do have globus installed. Therefore, it would be useful if RFT could use a passive connection like gridFTP, so that the globus machines do have connections back to the non-globus machines. Is this already possible (how?)? Or will it be part of newer RFT releases?

Cheers,
