Start by making sure that the host name on the certificate matches the
reverse DNS of your IP address.
If you want to set up a particular service with a separate certificate
from that of the host, the format of the subject DN is (service)/
(hostname) without the parentheses. This is described in more detail at
http://www.globus.org/toolkit/docs/4.2/4.2.0/security/gsic/pi/gsic-pi-env.html#gsic-env-credentials

Out of curiosity, why do you want your certificate DN to resolve to
"ibm.grid" rather than your host name?
