Hi,

I've been looking into the history of the Globus Toolkit and I've been trying to find out why GT3 was never really used in a production environment. Could anyone enlighten me ?

GT3 was based on OGSI (Open Grid Services Infrastructure) that was being developed in GGF (now OGF). For a number of reasons OGSI got
deprecated soon after it got to proposed recommendation status (for
a complex number of reasons). As soon as this happened most products
that were OGSI-based moved on to WSRF (GT4) or non-WSRF solutions. GT3, based on OGSI, never got mature enough to be used in many (or any) production environments. Hope that helps,

Mario
