Here is yet another way in which a system misconfiguration can cause
Globus job submission to fail.
For the record ---
Globus job submissions fail with message
globusrun-ws: Error: invalid or unknown job resource while querying
job state. Job may have expired or been destroyed.
The container.log file shows RFT-related errors that read
Ident authentication failed for user "globus"
The usual explanation is that pg_hba.conf was not correctly configured.
But it certainly is configured correctly., in this case.
The hint was that the pg_log files were showing denied connections to
localhost, on 127.0.0.1, when the connection should be from the host's
Internet IP number.
Turns out,
/etc/hosts
had the IP address of the machine on the 127.0.0.1 line, rather than just
localh...@localdoman and localhost. Correcting this and re-starting globus
was the solution.
