Thank you all for prompt responses.  The reasons we want to use RFT
are: reliablility (restart on broken transfer) and to know the status
of an ongoing transfer. I'll look into the gridftp features if we can
use it directly without RFT. One feature we need is to know the
progress of an ongoing transfer. I tried globus-url-copy with the -vb
option and it mostly does what we want.
Is there a way for a 3rd-party to query an ongoing gridftp transfer to
know it progress ??
