Hi,
There are 2 papers that I would look at. The first is on Nexus, published in 1994, while the second is on Globus published in 1996. As far as I know, Nexus was the initial attempt at the Globus Toolkit.

   year   =   1994
   author = "I. Foster and C. Kesselman and R. Olson and S. Tuecke",
title = "Nexus: An Interoperability Layer for Parallel and Distributed Computer Systems",
   url    =    ftp://info.mcs.anl.gov/pub/tech_reports/reports/TM189.ps.Z

   year   =   1996
   author    =     "I. Foster and C. Kesselman",
   title = "Globus: A Metacomputing Infrastructure Toolkit",
   url   =   http://eprints.kfupm.edu.sa/43092/1/43092.pdf

Cheers,
Ioan

Hi,
I know this question is not much related to globus user list but believe me, I have no other choice. what was the first grid project? I mean the first project that grid computing was used in..

Thankyou
