The links to repo did the trick (sort of)
If you followed the other reply when I tried to compile from source
myself there seemed to be a missing library: libtool and/or libltdl7.
But even once those were installed the make files did not properly link
to them. I could compile manually by inserting the proper -l option on
the command line but I didnt' figure out how to
include this flag in the top level "config" and "make" such that it
propagated down to the makes that occurred in
projects/usrlocal/src/gt5.2.3-all-source-installer/source-trees/common/source/programs'
But alas all is not well just yet...
gsissh SOMEMACHINE.teragrid.org'
works ... but
gsissh -X SOMEOTHERMACHINE.teragrid.org
Disconnecting: Hash's MIC didn't verify
as noted does not... both of these machines are teragrid/xsede machines
which use myproxy.teragrid.org for authentication
Actually SOMEMACHINE has
~/.ssh/ssh_config says ignore gssapiauthentication
while SOMEOTHERMACHINE does not have this
Suggestions on where to from here?

* C compiler.
* C++ compiler. Pick whichever version matches your C compiler.
* GNU tar
* GNU make
* GNU sed
* zlib 1.1.4+
* sudo (Required for GRAM)
and am installing as user globus.
