Call for Workshops Proposals
The 2019 IEEE International Conference on Blockchain (Blockchain-2019)

Proposals are solicited for workshops to be held in conjunction with the 2019 
IEEE International Conference on Blockchain (Blockchain-2019). Each workshop 
provides a forum to address a specific topic at the forefront of blockchain 
technology and related research topics.

A workshop associated with Blockchain-2019 can be either one full day or half 
day in length. Proceedings of all the workshops will be available to the 
workshop attendees. All workshop papers will be included in the main conference 
proceedings and published by IEEE CPS, which is collected by IEEE Explore and 
indexed by EI. Submissions of workshop proposals must reach the workshop chair 
by November 30th, 2018.

Workshop Proposal Submission
Each workshop proposal (maximum five pages) must include the following in this 
order:

l  Title of the workshop

l  Workshop Organizers (names, affiliation and contact information), limiting 
up to 2 workshop chairs for half-day workshop and 3 workshop chairs for 
full-day workshop

l  Scope and topics of the workshop (max 1 page)

l  Rationale (max 1 page)

w  Why is the topic current and important?

w  Why the workshop may attract a significant number of submissions of good 
quality?

w  Why the workshop may attract a large number of attendees, in addition to the 
authors?

w  How the workshop differs from others; i.e., related workshops and 
conferences of similar topic?

l  A one-paragraph biographical sketch for each organizer, describing relevant 
qualifications, including research and conference/workshop organizing experience

l  Names of potential participants, such as program committee members and 
invited speakers (indication that speakers accepted to participate is a plus)

l  Planned format of the workshop, including

w  Duration of the workshop: Half-day, Full-day and tentative schedule

w  Preferred day of workshop

w  Number of refereed papers

w  Unique, creative and novel workshop formats are strongly encouraged

l  Draft Call for Papers (max 1 page)

l  A description of the publicity and promotion plan

For previously-held workshops, in addition to the above, proposals must provide 
the following information, for two most recent incarnation of the workshop 
(either at this or another conference):

l  Number of submissions

l  Number of accepted papers

l  Number of registered attendees

Proposal Evaluation Criteria

l  The workshop is within the scope of Blockchain and concerns a coherent and 
important technical topic of high interest in the community.

l  Its novelty with respect to other forums, especially with respect to other 
Blockchain-2019 workshops.

l  Its potential impact on the target community, including likely high 
participation.

l  Research caliber of the PC committee and PC chairs.

Workshop Preparation and Organization Timeline

l  Workshop Submission Due: No later than November 30, 2018

l  Decision Notification: No later than December 15, 2018 (decision will be 
made on a rolling-basis)

l  CFP and Website for each Workshop are due: No later than January 30, 2019

l  Suggested Submission Deadline for Workshops: March 15, 2019

l  Suggested Workshop Paper Notification: Apr 15, 2019

l  Submission of Camera Ready Papers to Publisher (hard deadline): May 02, 2019

Please submit your workshop proposal to both Workshop Chairs with the subject 
heading "IEEE Blockchain-2019 workshop proposal"
