That is excellent news!

And I see what my mistake was: to try to either cross-compile
the full package for pc, gta02 and gta04 or to build all
variants on an ARM machine. In both cases the cross-compilers
make trouble.

So getting rid of any cross-compilation seems to simplify
things a lot.

I'll try to make a setup on my build system and since I
already have a script to debootstrap a current wheezy
(jessie, stretch, ...) it looks like just needs git cloning
the qtmoko package and running the gta04 sepcific build script
inside the newly bootstrapped wheezy which already
does a chroot to complete installation of e.g. lxde
or xfce...
