This person needs to be able to create scripts on their own and reverse engineer. It's almost a QA/developer in that they need scripting experience (in VB, PowerShell, Ruby or Python). These are not functional programmers. The team follows Agile methodology and this will support their mobile group (same group as BA/Project Coordinator) so need someone with a little thick skin who can hold their own. Summary The Contract - Automation Test Engineer develops and delivers automated tests. This position works closely and directly with the manual test team to identify what can and should be automated. The client’s QA has an established automation framework that the engineer is expected to work within. The engineer will interact with his or her supervisor as needed, but many activities will require independent thought and decision making. Required: At least 5 years of QA experience At least 3 years of test automation beyond record/playback (code-writing) Experience with Ruby, JRuby and C# highly preferred Proficient knowledge with code repositories - TFS and Git preferred Working knowledge of an Agile or an iterative development environment Working knowledge and experience of the following: XML HTML SOA, SOAP/REST/WCF SQL JavaScript RDoc eCommerce, web-based testing Selenium Moblie Unit Testing Other required: Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others; conducts working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease Duties: Plan, design, execute, and evaluate automation tests for applications and services Work alongside the manual test team to deliver well-tested, working software that includes automated regression coverage Customize and troubleshoot scripts as necessary, configure run-time settings, capture dynamic data, and design error handling strategies Design tests within the framework such that they are maintainable and do not require constant refactoring to stay operable Maintain and extend continuous integration tests, automated testing of build deployments, and nightly automation runs Stay up to date with current automation trends in the industry Other skills: Collaboration – Working effectively and cooperatively with others; establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
