As wonderful as continuous updates are I must simply face the facts; it is so frustrating to be forced to re-do my personalized modifications with every update that I simply postpone updates as much as possible.
Over all I it is a bit of a catch 22 situation: Newbies putting in the effort to overcome the TW and mGTD threshold do so, I assume, with the expectation to be able to modify the system as desired. I mean, that is one of the absolute strenghts with TW. But, once mastered, it becomes obvious that the very personal modifications are in conflict with updates in mGTD! The obvious answer would be to be able to update only actually modified tiddlers. For instance, I want; *my* work menu layout, my heading that includes todays date, my default tiddler, my main menu and several other personalized settings. I've partially solved this by creating special tiddlers for each such instance, e.g in addition to the default "Reference Items"I have a "Reference Items - myversion" and after updating I've manually edited the original tiddler to only contain "<<tiddler [[Reference Items - myversion]]>>. I must check manually to see that those very tiddlers have not been modified, but that is for a limited set of tiddlers.
