Don't give up on it. My mgtd does it. I am not sure what the mechanism is.

Maybe this is not what you wanted to hear, but the GTD system isn't
really designed for tracking the past. The whole point of GTD is to
minimize the need to remember what you are supposed to do in the
future, so you can concentrate on getting things done in the present
(disclaimer: I don't really know anything; so go read the book!).

If something isn't likely to be forgotten, then I don't use the mGSD
system to track it. For example, I don't have a tickler for brushing
my teeth; I just do it.

There are lots of good reasons for tracking things you have already
done, but mGSD is not really set up for that. I would use a Google
spreadsheet instead.

However one idea is that you could use the notes field of the tickler
to list the history of how you handled the tickler. But you'll have
to remember to edit it properly each time. You could also just store
the URL to your Google spreadsheet in the tickler's notes.

Hope that helps,
Jason

May be checkboxes in a new journal template can help you.

Though I am no expert but just thinking out loud here, you can use
DataTiddlerPlugin and FormTiddlerPlugin to construct a journal
template and using GridPlugin you can review your progress?

Mecha.

Thanks for your input. I've thought a bit more about this and tracking
what I did in the past isn't really what i want anyway. I just want to
get reminded of what I should be doing at the moment. But like you
said, you don't track brushing your teeth. It's just routine.

I think I'll just make a more thorough daily schedule and try to stick
with that.

That being said though, recurring stuff can probably be handled with
the tickler system. However this is probably only handy for things
that have to be done every week+.

Two possible approaches (disclaimer: these come from a non-GTD-purist
trying to compensate for failing short-term memory!):
1. If you add Kralik's extendedTicklersPlugin (http://
kralik.tiddlyspot.com/),
you get the possibility of additional (and more precise) intervals for
recurring ticklers.
So you could tag something Daily, and then have it recur every 2 days.

2. Alternatively, the DailyTasksPlugin lets you see the pattern of the
last week:

 Topic: GTD TiddlyWiki as Research Tool?
Mecha <[email protected]> May 16 11:51PM -0700 ^

Hi Josh,

I use MonkeyGTD to manage my notes and ideas along with Projects. Most
helping plugin I have installed for Research is FileDropPlugin. Just
drag and drop files (pdf, zip, doc, etc ...) and a link to file will
be created directly in mGTD. Later i can add related notes and
reference these links in tiddlers. Best thing is that i can attach
these notes to projects as well. This allows me to search through all
my notes from one location and related pdf/zip is just a click away
from the note.

I hope it help.

Regards,
Mecha.

How To:
1. Import following tiddlers from: http://www.tiddlytools.com/

* AttachFileMIMETypes
* AttachFilePlugin
* AttachFilePluginFormatters
* FileDropPlugin

2. Save and reload MonkeyGTD.

Note: This should get you started, you can add your own files
extensions working by editing AttachFileMIMETypes tiddler.
