I don't find any better idea than using the @@phone tag (which will be
shown as @phone around gtg, apart from the task editor).
Fixed in the upcoming 0.2.4 (now building the daily ppa, will be
available in an hour).

Status in Getting Things GNOME!: Fix Committed
Bug description:
I already use @ as a prefix in some of my rtm tags to map context, so when I
imported my tasks to GTG! the @ sign was "ignored", creating a new tag on
remember the milk.
An example: I have a tag @phone on remember the milk. When I imported my tasks
to GTG! it created a label @phone, when I synced again, GTG uploaded the task
as if it was tagged phone.
I can't really suggest a way to fix this, but I was hoping that you could
remember which tags already had an @ prefix or making it possible having a
double @ prefix for some tags.
