Zanna Wood confirmed that the question is solved:
ok . . . somehow, without my knowledge or any indication, the plugin DID
get installed! It works like a peach--and after my first sync, the
plugin now appears in the list as "activated", in bold. Before, it was
in a lighter text.
But it works!!! And that's all I care about!
