In that case 1. You very likely do not have the Gtk+ 1.2 development package. 2. Something is wrong with your Fedora Core 5 installation, or at least the pkg-config there. It should *not* try to execute gtk-config. What which pkg-config prints? Does it print /usr/bin/pkg-config? And what rpm -q pkgconfig prints? Does it print pkgconfig-0.20-2.2.1?
