Hi, there are at least four different gtk backends, X11, win32, quartz and directfb. So i would not even bother about the first 3 and go directly to directfb since you will only have to implement directfb API in your OS.
Another option would be to create a new gdk backend based for example on opengles. hope this help greets Juan Pablo
