No; like every other Autotools using component, it places them in
whatever you specify as --datadir.
And if what you're actually asking for is for it to use something
other than ${prefix}/share/gir-1.0 because you have some moral
objection to directories there - well, good luck patching the world,
because *tons* of things in the GNOME stack do that.
