I'm looking forward to GUI/core separation, and I have contributed some ideas of a suitable XML structure for the UI<->core communication protocol. Search the list if you're interested.
Since then I've been buried under work though, and I still can't offer any help for the months to come. Feel free to pick up the thing and elaborate on it if it seems suitable to you.
