Gtk-G users and developers: I am constantly seeing upload requests for 'entire files' failing in the last few versions of GTKG, using the gtk-2 libs. It may also happen with gtk-1 libs, but I do not have them built to test with, nor do I want to use them instead of the gtk-2 versions at this time.
If you can, would you please watch for upload requests that come in with the size set to the size of the entire file (i.e., no 'chunk' size specified), and see if you see them fail with an EOF indication in the status column of the upload page? I think the software believes that the size requested is larger than the file, yet the size shown in the request is the same size as the file (rounded to the size displayed on the upload status page, of course). I have mentioned this problem to Raphael, who was unable to duplicate it. I'd like to know if others are also seeing evidence of the problem. I seem to see this happen mostly with Bearshare clients, but that may be due to the fact that most of my requests come from Bearshare clients, or LimeWire clients which never request an entire file. I believe that I have also seen the problem with other gnutella clients, but can't remember the exact client software that caused the problem. I suspect that this is particular to non-GTKG clients, and that GTKG will succeed with a request to other GTKG servers, which may be why Raphael was unable to duplicate the problem, as he used the same version of GTKG on both the client and server end. Drop me a note if you find this problem occurring on your system, and include the version number of your software. I am currently running the new 0.93.2 stable release from Jan. 5th, with the most recent fix for the memory leak, and have verified that I see the problem with this version. Thanks for any help you can give, --Carl __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
