A successful build from CVS! I have it running right this moment. Latest entry is: /main.c/1.227/Sun Feb 6 14:03:19 2005//
Current observations: The Sun make/Gnu make issue was a simple issue of blank lines. There's a handful of places in the various Makefiles where the target is followed by a blank line before any instructions start. Sun's make blows up when it hits those, but apparently gnu make doesn't. Removing the blank lines, the rest of the Makefile syntax is fine, and Sun's make works as expected. The current snapshot did not produce ANY halts to the compile process. It generated its fair share of warnings, but I've come to expect at least a few of those with Forte. I built this snapshot 64-bit, and it started up perfectly, first time. If someone *really* wants a transcript of the warnings from a crazy-anal-retentive compiler, I can provide one. :) I left sendfile() turned on for this build, with no observed issues as of yet. I must admit the last time I bumped into a sendfile() problem was over a year ago. I'll just assume something changed in that time. I did have to alter the parameters passed to "gmsgfmt" in the "po" subdirectory. Apparently, the gmsgfmt I have available doesn't support the "-c" or "--statistics" options. Removing those doesn't seem to have caused any issues. So, outside of half a dozen or so Makefile changes, this build was totally seamless and resulted in running code on the first attempt. You just gotta love that! I guess now I can just watch for the odd core dump that might pop up from time to time. <Insert image of happy GTKG user here> Cheers, The Blue Meanie ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
