gtk-gnutella from current SVN disallows creation of searches with search terms
longer than 30 characters (counted after normalization) as well now. As most
clients on the network are currently LimeWire or LimeWire-based, it does not
really make sense to emit searches which those discard anyway. It should also
help to see whether this limit is reasonable or not.

Keep in mind that you can use filters like +must_match and -must_not_match to
get more accurate results without using a longer search term.
