Hi,

I would like to have your application added into the Ubuntu Lucid 10.04
and all future releases with recurring updates (particularly the Long Term
Releases LTS).
I posted with them to encourage Ubuntu to add GTK-Gnutella in such a way that
it would get your regular yearly stable releases.
Their current update process for gnutella is to simply offer a newer version in
their next ubuntu release.

I'm not sure about the rerst of the world, but I don't want to be stuck with a
3-4 year out of date version of gnutella because I'm using a stable LTS version
of ubuntu - It makes no sense.

I've noticed that they make such exceptions only for things that update and
greatly affect usefullness often, such as AV, media players, security related
patches, etc.

I am currently on 0.96.6, which is the default supported by Lucid.

I think that the case is easily made that most people use computers primarily
to Play Games, Surf the web, Swap Files etc.

Using this logic, the usefullness of Ubuntu to many users is greatly diminished
if the LTS doesn't auto-update to the latest stable release of GTK-Gnutella.

Now -- I've tried to talk to them, but its as if we are speaking different
languages.
Their idea of "stable release" and your idea of "yearly stable release" are
currently not at all the same.
If any one of you could make the case that GTK-Gnutella should be getting alot
more love from ubuntu, particualarly in the updates dept, I'd be very happy.

P.S. The "kick-start GTK-Gnutella" script should be included in future
releases as a button to press on the client instead of a script to run (-:

But it is a nice feature.

Jim
