Dear Gnutella fans, A short announce to let you know that a "beta" version of gtk-gnutella is now available in pre-compiled form on sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gtk-gnutella/files/gtk-gnutella/0.96.9/gtk-gnutella-0.96.9-18885.exe/download This is roughly version 0.96.9 stable with some minor bug fixes that have happened since the official release (and which are available in SVN for UNIX fans that are compiling their own GTKG). Before calling it an official release on Windows (which will be 0.97), I would like to have wider testing on Windows than the one I am able to provide: more people running it, more diverse situations, and hopefully no crash... The Windows version should run with the same efficiency and robustness as the corresponding UNIX version. The reason is simple: the code base is 99.5% identical to the UNIX version. Only low-level routines were ported so as to provide the illusion of a POSIX-like environment to the upper levels. Note that this is a true Windows binary, not something compiled for Cygwin. There is no dependency whatsoever to Cygwin. Enjoy!
