Quoting german bloger <germanblo...@googlemail.com> from ml.softs.gtk-gnutella.devel: :The option IPv6 only in GTKG doesn't prevent connecting to IPv4 hosts (I've :assumed that it does prevent connecting to IPv4 hosts, perhaps someone could :explain me the meaning of this option)
Indeed, the selection of IPv4/IPv6 only applies to the listening socket set up by GTKG. It does not apply to connections. Bug or feature? It's probably surprising, but that was the intent. GTKG is not conforming to the "IPv6-Ready" specifications yet anyway. That's planned to be implemented later this year. And without any IPv6-Ready client and IPv6 bootstrapping mechanisms, Gnutella as a whole is not capable of supporting IPv6-only hosts correctly. If you have time and knowledge about Gnutella, please review the IPv6-Ready specifications that were posted on the GDF to make sure nothing essential has been overlooked. This will ensure that when the IPv6-Ready specs are implemented in GTKG, things will start working properly! In the source tree, you'll find IPv6-Ready specs at "doc/gnutella/IPv6-Ready".
