Hello,

I recently purchased a LIME2-SERVER based on the A20-OLinuXino-LIME2
from Olimex. You may find more information about it on
<https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/Home-Server/LIME2-SERVER-NO-HDD/open-source-hardware>.
Its purpose it to consume at most 5 watts and to have a huge uptime (it
even has a battery).

Then I installed FreedomBox (a pure Debian blend) on it and have been
fiddling with it since then. There are many applications that the user
can control easily from a web interface, including MLDonkey that I of
course installed. After that, I ssh'ed into the box, compiled and
installed gtkg in headless mode and edited the
~/.gtk-gnutella/config_gnet file. I also added it to contrab with a line
like
@reboot sleep 5 && /usr/local/bin/gtk-gnutella --daemonize --log-stderr
~/tmp/stderr --log-stdout ~/tmp/gtkg.stdout

It seems to be working pretty well in both leaf and ultrapeer modes
except it sometimes exits without leaving a crash log. I hope
gtkg.stderr and gtkg.stdout files will provide more information.

I also discovered that FreedomBox (<https://freedombox.org/>) wasn't
alone in the free software home server ecosystem. There's Freedombone
(<https://freedombone.net/>) and YunoHost (<https://yunohost.org/>) too,
all based on Debian GNU/Linux, all offering many applications that one
can install and control from a web interface without having to deal with
technical aspects or edit config files.

My overall impression is that gtkg would really benefit from having such
a web interface, so it can be easily installed on such home servers.
Unfortunately I'm unable to help with the development, but I can create
an account and provide access to my box if anyone is interested (talk is
already installed so I can bother you :P All these systems can also be
tested on a classic PC with say VirtualBox). I can also happily
translate the interface in French & Turkish. What do you think about the
idea?

All the best.
