I'm a little hesitant to do this, simply because the C++ interface to
Gnome isn't quite stable yet, as I understand it. However, I'll give it a
look.
Does the Gnome canvas support displaying images as flexibly and
efficiently as does the GTK Preview widget?
(My real immediate application is annotations drawn on top of an image.)
