Hi, There is already a library that Werner Koch of GnuPG is doing, I think it's called gcrypt, that does this sort of thing. For database access, there's a gnome-db project that may be of interest. I think neither thing is likely to go into glib/gtk, because they are too large and special-purpose (and the crypto introduces legal issues).
