Text widget background

Hi,

I am writing a simple program and need to change the background of
the Tex widget. I tried to set fg/bg in gtk_text_insert but that
is not what I need, the background color is only painted under the
text whereas I would like the free areas to have the same color.
Also playing with .gtkrc didn't give me this, any hints?
