Image type 'png' is not supported

Hi!

I'm trying to compile GTK+ HEAD, and, on the gtk/stock-icons directory,
it complains about

Image type 'png' is not supported

when trying to run gdk-pixbuf/make-inline-pixbuf. I've got the
libpng-dev package installed, and configure did detect it, so, what's
the problem?
